PETA vs. Paris

This adorable swine version of Bodoni is Miss Piglette—Paris Hilton’s soon to be pet pig. PETA made a statement that she treats her pets as “disposable as her friends and fiancees.” Ouch. The heiress who paid $4,500 for her new companion/accessory says “I treat my pets like children. I think it’s a lot better for the pig to be at home with me than be made into bacon.” I’m not so sure about that. I’ve seen Tinkerbell struggling to walk in what are probably $300 doggie booties and wearing stupid ballerina get ups. That's just cruel...

Pigs would actually have a much better life rooting around in manure on a free range farm somewhere. Ultimately ending up as bacon is a small sacrifice to pay to avoid a lifetime in humiliating costumes being carried around like a purse.

My Two Loves

If there is anything I love as much as bacon, it’s shoes. Keds has put the two best things in the world together. The idea of a bacon shoe is intriguing... but not quite my style. How about some 3 inch strappy bacon heels?

Meatpaper: The Pig Issue

Issue 7 is out now!! Run out and get your copy today! Meatpaper is a fantastic magazine devoted to art and ideas about meat—and the latest issue is all about our favorite subject here in baconista land: the pig! According to Gothamist, there's an article on a new medical treatment called Bacon Therapy, a profile on Allen Benton of Benton’s Bacon (of PDT fame and highly recommended by Mr. Cutlets himself), and a comparison piece on vegan bacon (is that even necessary??).

I love that the editors of this meaty mag (Sasha Wizansky & Amy Standen) are both skinny gals. I have a feeling that if it were run by two slovenly dudes it wouldn't be nearly as tasty. Kudos on the very elegant aesthetic, ladies! I want that Meatpaper tote!

Thanks to Gristle for bringing this to my attention!!

Bring Home the Bacon

And keep it in this bacon billfold! Sorry, I posted this kind of late—yesterday they were offering the wallet with a crisp new fiver inside to get you started. But... do you really want a meat wallet??

How Deep is Your Love?

Apparently, not that deep. I spotted this lovely necklace at a very cute boutique in SF this past November. The moment I saw it I thought “Oh! I do love bacon!” until I saw the price tag and thought “Well... not that much.” Don't question my devotion—we're in a recession, damn it!

Sweet, Sweet Santa

Santa was good to the Baconista this year. Not only did he bring me Roni-Sue Pig Candy (chocolate-covered bacon) & Bacon Buttercrunch—I also received this odd little package. Wrapped like it's straight from the butcher shop is the biggest piece of bacon ever! The label reads "Bacon Scarf" with a warning of "Do Not Eat." Finally... I can wrap myself in bacon!
